About

Elevate the School of Social Work.

NAU’s School of Social Work prepares students to make a meaningful difference in communities across Arizona and beyond. Through hands-on learning, professional development, and real-world experiences, students build the skills and knowledge they need to serve individuals, families, and communities.

The Social Work Innovation Fund provides flexible support that helps make these opportunities possible, allowing the School of Social Work to respond to student needs and invest in experiences that extend learning beyond the classroom.

Prepare students to make an impact

Your gift to the Social Work Innovation Fund helps support:

  • Student travel to help offset the cost of driving to and from rural communities to complete internship hours. Service to rural communities is an important part of the School of Social Work’s mission
  • The Social Work Simulation Lab, which helps train the next generation of behavioral health social workers in Arizona
  • The annual Interprofessional Education, Development, and Advancement (IDEA) Symposium, where more than 200 undergraduate students from six health-related disciplines come together to learn how to better serve older adults and their families
  • The annual Rural Engagement Series, a continuing professional education event for community partners in collaboration with Flagstaff’s Native Americans for Community Action (NACA)
  • The annual Legislative Education and Advocacy (LEAD) Day, which gives Social Work students a day at the Arizona Capitol to meet legislators and learn about policy advocacy

Thank you for your axe of kindness.

Together, these opportunities help Social Work students gain the hands-on experience, professional skills, and connections they need to enter their careers prepared to serve communities across Arizona and beyond. Thank you for supporting the School of Social Work this Homecoming.
